Come Celebrate Minneapolis Gay Pride Week!
Join the Twin Cities and Sheraton Minneapolis Midtown in honoring one of the turning points in history of Gay and Lesbian rights. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the New York City Stonewall riots. Gay pride parades are being held all over the nation in June including: Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Houston, New York City, San Francisco, Santa Fe, Seattle, Toronto and of course Minneapolis.
This year's Minneapolis 2010 Gay Pride Week will unfold June 18-27, 2010. The two major events will be the Pride Festival and the Pride Parade, but there will also be events leading up to the main events. The Sheraton Minneapolis Midtown is less than two miles away from the festivities and labeled a Minneapolis Gay Pride hotel.
These events will be:
- Pride Boat Cruise on a Vintage Stern-Wheeler Riverboat (Saturday)
- Departs from Stillwater, Minnesota
- On the Andiamo Showboat along the St. Croix River
- Three hour cruise
- Includes entertainment and a snack buffet
- Tickets are $39.00
- Departs from Stillwater, Minnesota
- Pride Picnic (Sunday)
- Held in St. Paul at Como Park in the East Picnic Pavilions
- 11AM-2PM
- Races, table games and a softball game
- Food consists of burgers, hotdogs and salads
- Pride Festival (Saturday and Sunday)
- Sat (10AM-10PM), Sun (10AM-6PM)
- Held in Loring Park
- Children's and Family Area
- Five stages with performers such as: Kat DeLuna, Kristine W, and Expose with other local/national artists
- Food courts
- GLBT History Pavilion
- "University Row"- featuring colleges/universities in the area and their GLBT outreach programs
- Quorum Village- a vendor/exhibitor hosted by the Twin Cities GLBT Chamber of Commerce
- Ashley Rukes GLBT Pride Parade (Sunday)
- Starts at 11AM (Pre-Parade show starts at 9AM)
- 125,000 spectators last year
- Begins at the corner of 3rd street and Hennepin Avenue, ending at the Pride Festival in Loring Park
